When should gutters be replaced rather than cleaned?
Gutters have a working life. Once the steel has rusted or the falls have gone, cleaning only buys time. If we clean your gutters and find any of the signs below, we photograph them and quote a replacement so you can decide with the facts in front of you.
Signs your gutters are past their life
- Water overflowing from the front edge in normal rain
- Rust spots, holes or corrosion along the base
- Sagging runs or brackets pulling away from the fascia
- Water staining or peeling paint on the fascia and eaves
- Joins that still leak after they have been cleaned and resealed
Colorbond and Zincalume gutter profiles we install
Quad (including slotted quad), OGEE, half-round, squareline and box gutters, in Colorbond steel or Zincalume, with matching downpipes and the full Colorbond colour range. Slotted quad is worth considering on homes where overflow has been a problem, and leaf guard can be fitted at the same time.
Fascia and fascia cover
Rotten timber fascia is either replaced or covered with Colorbond fascia cover, depending on its condition. We tell you which on inspection. Fascia is always done before the new gutters go on.
Downpipes and overflow protection
New downpipes are sized and positioned to the roof area, not just put back where the old ones were. Overflow measures are added where the roof drains to a single point.
